U okrugu Novoj Kahovki u dijelu ukrajinske pokrajine Herson koji je pod kontrolom Rusije, nakon proboja gradske brane proglašeno je izvanredno stanje, objavila je ruska agencija Tass.
Ukrajina i Rusija međusobno se optužuju za eksploziju koja je izazvala poplave u nekim područjima, ugrozila više od 20.000 ljudi i dio njih natjerala da napuste svoje domove.
Residents of Kherson region are advised not to leave pets on chains, in enclosures or cages, and to safely evacuate pets to save them from drowning in floodwaters from the destroyed Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam.

Dužnosnici s obje strane zabrinuti su da bi probijanje brane moglo poremetiti opskrbu pitkom vodom u Hersonu i na obližnjem Krimu ili uzrokovati probleme za nuklearnu elektranu Zaporižja, koja koristi vodu u rijeci Dnjipro za rashlađivanje bazena.

Razina vode u gradu neposredno uz probijenu branu mogla bi porasti do 12 metara, rekao je u utorak proruski gradonačelnik Vladimir Leontjev. Vlasti su priopćile kako se očekuje da će razina vode u gradu rasti sljedeća 72 sata.
